Benitses village is a traditional fishing village 12 kilometers south of the city of Corfu.It name occurs for the first time in records in 1469 .
Recent archaeological excavations have brought to light the ruins of Roman thermal baths , in relatively good condition.
The good climate and the natural beauty of the village attracted since the beginning of the century several tourists .
In 1917 settled in Corfu the Serbian Army and the Serbian exile government .Several soldiers and officers stayed in Benitses, , which was erected their temporary hospital in Agios Stefanos .
