The Sinies is a village in the northeast of Corfu. Today when we say Sinies are referring to former community Sinion starting from the region of Kouloura to the brink of Kassiopi.
To the north extending to the foothills of Mount Pantrokatoras where in difficult times our ancestors took root in the region Old Sinies or Old Village. There still remains neglected with remnants of houses and churches built within ivy and padding.

The root of the name comes from the Latin word meaning SINIUM signal or mark if combined with the name of a location above the old village, in Vigla ridge, which is called "Lamp" and where, according to ancient tradition there were individual which made signal to the village for the Raiders consolidates this version.
